McKinstry
Website
Project: Redesign the corporate website for McKinstry, one of the country’s leading design/build mechanical contractors.
Challenge: The website needed to effectively and intuitively organize an extremely wide range of services, communicating to current and potential customers that McKinstry is a virtual one-stop resource for every moment in the life of a building, from conception to construction to optimum everyday performance while also positioning McKinstry as a nationally established leader in sustainability and energy efficiency.
Solution: Create a virtual “living building” as the centerpiece for the website. Visitors were able to locate and discover McKinstry’s smart building technology by interacting with the building floor by floor and watching the people live, play, and work productively and comfortably.
Results: McKinstry clients and staff gave overwhelming praise to the new website, commenting that they never knew McKinstry’s technology and services were so extensive. Several other design/build companies across the country lauded the site’s creativity and observed that it brought needed humanity to the category.
My Role: Came up with the idea of using the building as a way to showcase the environments created and maintained by McKinstry technologies. Designed the look of each floor and managed the artists creating the floors. Helped create the look and feel of the website working with the internal agency team, and outside web developers. Collaborated daily with the lead designer, copywriter, and account executive.
