Rover
TElevision
Project: Create a series of three :30 TV spots to introduce rover.com – a network of dog sitters who give dog owners a loving alternative to boarding their dogs in a kennel when they need to leave town.
Challenge: The spots needed to drive home to dog owners that rover.com sitters will treat their dogs with the same kind of love, care, and pampering that they receive at home, relieving the anxiety of leaving their dogs behind. Secondarily, the spots wanted to act as a recruitment tool for potential rover.com sitters.
Solution: Recognizing that pets are considered members of the family, remerinc created ads in which pet owners talk to their pets as such. In each spot, these doggie “parents” are seen talking to what viewers assume is an unseen child. Then it’s revealed that the child is actually a dog. This method allowed us to humorously establish the parent/child aspect of the relationship while presenting the many positives of rover.com.
My Role: I was part of the team that brainstormed the three scenarios for the spots. I took part in the casting, helping choose appropriate actors and dogs for each spot. I helped art direct the spots in terms of prop selection, wardrobe, and locations, and took part in the editing process.
